MOTIVATIONS

The intention is to invite established and emerging turkish and international artists, to transit through an abandoned place in the city for a determined period, to investigate the atmosphere and act in relation to the feelings arised.

A space to define and the transience of the present becomes the attributes of reality to represent and rework with site specific works, using any kind of medium.

Waste areas are interesting because of the lack of human design projects.
A pristine environment, devoid of content, can create a different relationship between artists and viewers, transforming them into witnesses rather than representatıves, enhancing the human value of the direct experience of discovery.

Act in the emptiness which delimits urban life does not mean to enlarge or breake down the limits, but do not recognize them, because art does‘nt need "reserved areas".

OBJECTIVES

The objective of the project is to propose an artistic exploration that moves his steps around the spaces, structures, their organizations and their potentiality.
It is a research interested in containers, not the contents.

The project aims to give life to a social platform, a sort of square made up of artists, curators, critics, experts, passioneds and curious of art, to create a laboratory of free exchange. A place where a true confrontation and intellectual debate can happen.

EXPECTATIONS

The expectation is that the work of the artists coming in conjunction with the site gives the results of a single opera. It's job is to lead the audience into disorientation, not apathetic and distracted , but in an active and lively way. This is to suggest new possibilities to the constitutive experience of restoration and re-cognition of everyone, in a community context.

THE HAMAM

The research for a space where to develop the project, led to the discovery of hidden treasure. Is an old hamam from the half of the 19 century. Sited in the heart of Beyoglu, have been closed for 4 years and is now near to be renovated. A collective of artists, coming from different disciplines, will work in a unique atmosphere, unleashed from the beautiful architecture and the cultural value of the space.
